APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) – The Appleton Health Department has confirmed their fourth and fifth cases of COVID-19 in the city.
One of the new cases is a resident of Outagamie County and the other is a resident of Calumet County. Both contracted the virus through community spread.
Both residents remain isolated in their homes. Both are compliant with all requests from health officials and are following all recommendations to prevent contact with others.
The health department is now conducting contact investigations to identify and follow-up with any people who had close contact with the ill individuals. Close contacts will be educated about self-monitoring their health status by our health department nurses. They will be required to do daily symptom and temperature checks; as well as quarantine themselves for 14 day as a precaution.
We can assume there are more cases in Appleton than have been confirmed. We recommend everyone continue to follow the Safer at Home emergency order issued last week. Following guidelines from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services and CDC will also help slow the spread of the virus.
