GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — A second person has died of the COVID-19 Coronavirus in Brown County as the number of confirmed cases in the county reaches past the 300 mark.
Health officials announced the death Tuesday, but did not provide any demographic information on the patient. There are 322 cases confirmed in Brown County and the Oneida Nation. There are 30 patients out-of-isolation with improving or diminished symptoms and 22 cases in the hospital.
Health department Spokesman Ted Shove said Tuesday that employee testing has begun at the JBS Packerland Meat Packing Plant on Lime Kiln road on the city’s east side, but that the facility remains in operation as part of the local supply chain. That facility was identified as the source of a recent spike in cases in Brown County, which has seen the highest rate of case growth in the state of Wisconsin, outside of Milwaukee, since Friday.
