GRAND CHUTE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Police in Grand Chute are looking for the driver who witnessed a wrong-way vehicle on I-41 earlier this week.
It’s in connection with the arrest of a man Monday morning.
Police say just before 3 a.m. they received a call for a suspicious vehicle parked in an area hotel parking lot, running.
When officers went to check on the vehicle, they found a man slumped over in the driver’s seat.
Officers say when they woke him up, the man shifted his vehicle into reverse and backed into a Grand Chute squad car. The man then drove forward, striking two vehicles before leaving the parking lot and onto N. Westhill Boulevard.
The driver of the vehicle was found a few hours later and taken into custody.
No officers were injured in the incident and the squad car only received minor damage.
At this time, investigators believe before his arrest, the man drove the wrong-way on I-41 southbound Monday morning, between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m. Another vehicle may have encountered the wrong way vehicle on I-41 between the Richmond Street and Prospect Avenue exits. The driver who witnessed the wrong-way driver may have valuable information to further help in the investigation.
