GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — Two more deaths have been attributed to the Coronavirus in Brown County.
County health officials on Friday say the deaths of a 51 year old De Pere man and a 59 year old woman on Green Bay’s East Side are the fourth and fifth deaths attributed to the virus locally.
In Brown County and the Oneida Nation, 1,171 people have tested positive for the COVID-19 Coronavirus while 170 have recovered, and 38 people have been hospitalized, which is down from 40 on Thursday.
Health department officials say increased testing continues to drive those high numbers, including at a new location at the Resch Center, specifically for workers in essential industries.
“Industries like healthcare facilities, long term care facilities, food processing facilities,” Brown County Health Department Spokesperson Claire Paprocki said. “We’re trying to target that population so that they can stay open.”
In its first day of operation on Thursday, 241 people were tested at the Resch center site, which is operated by the county with the help of the National Guard.
