GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — Free community testing for the COVID-19 Coronavirus is now available in Brown County, but that doesn’t mean you should show up just because you’re curious.
Testing is only open to those with certain symptoms attributed to the disease.
“They are fever…cough, shortness of breath or difficult breathing, sore throat chills or rigor,” said Public Health Director Anna Destree. “And new loss of taste or smell.”
The process is easy enough, although not particularly comfortable. A COVID-19 test is administred through a deep nose swab.
“They drive their car into the facility, and they’re going to be asked some standard questions,” Destree said. “There will be some demographic information and they will be asked their current symptoms.”
After that, the test is administered. In all, the process takes about three minutes. They’re able to process about 45 tests an hour.
The community testing site is located at the Resch Center. Officials plan to open a second location on Green Bay’s east side.
