GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Green Bay’s city council approved the reappointment of City Clerk Kris Teske Tuesday night.
The 10-1 vote comes less than a month after voters experienced up to four hour waits for in-person voting during the Spring Election.
The reappointment means Teske will remain the city’s clerk for at least another two years.
Green Bay Mayor Eric Genrich has taken responsibility for decisions that led to the long waits on April 7th.
The city consolidated its 31 polling locations to 2 after a large number of poll workers decided not to risk their health amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The city also declined help at the polls from trained Wisconsin National Guard members.
Teske has said she feared the soldiers’ training might not have been adequate considering the training they received took a few hours when the city’s training typically takes about 10 hours.
Alder Chris Wery was the lone vote against Teske’s reappointment. Wery has called for an independent investigation into the decisions that were made leading up to the election.
