GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — Brown County COVID-19 cases rose over the 1,600 mark on Wednesday.
Health officials reported that between Brown County and the Oneida Nation there are 1,649 positive cases in the county. 250 have recovered. 11 have died.
Officials reported that 39% of the county’s cases are directly linked to three meatpacking facilities: JBS Packerland, American Foods Group, and Salm Partners. Brown County Health Department Spokesperson Claire Paprocki added, however, that one particular industry isn’t to blame as the virus continues to spread through the community.
County officials have begun community testing this morning at the Casa Alba center in Downtown Green Bay. They hope to test 900 people a day.
The national guard has two specimen collection teams working on testing in Brown County.
