ASHWAUBENON, WI (WTAQ) – Through a statement, the Ashwaubenon Village Board says an independent investigation has cleared Village Manager Allison Swanson of any “wrong-doing or unethical conduct.”
In early February, the Ashwaubenon Public Safety Officers Association announced it had taken a unanimous vote of no confidence in Swanson. A press release outlined 20 allegations of wrongdoing involving Swanson including preventing criminal charges from being referred against a village board member, not following protocol for economic development projects, and violating a variety of employment laws leading to pending lawsuits and grievances.
The board statement issued Saturday reports Attorney Jim Macy investigated the allegations, no confidence vote, as well as a harassment and retaliation complaint from Swanson.
“The Village Board accepts the reports and its findings of absolutely no wrong-doing or unethical conduct by the Village Manager Allison Swanson,” the board’s statement reads. “The Board wishes to express its full faith and support in Swanson.”
The board’s statement claims Macy commended Swanson for her work.
“The reality is the Village Manager, to her credit, is doing her job,” said Macy. “She has not caved into the incredible pressure the Association has placed upon her for standing up and making decision in the best interest of the Village overall.”
The board says based on the investigation’s conclusions, it “wishes to focus its efforts on moving the Village forward with its dynamic economy and projects.”
