BROWN COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Last minute Mother’s Day pick-ups going on at at Seroogy’s Chocolates Sunday, and even though the doors stayed closed to the public, store workers were ready to meet the demand.
“All someone has to do is call and we’ll have their order ready the same day,” said Marjorie Hitchcock. She’s the store’s marketing director.
Even with the store only offering curbside pickup and delivery, Hitchcock tells FOX 11 the Seroogy’s staff is serving plenty of customers.
“Of course, it’s not the same as if we were having open doors, but we have been busy and the limited staff have been very busy everyday.”
While some retailers like Seroogy’s have to adjust to no foot traffic in their stores, that doesn’t mean open essential businesses aren’t impacted.
“Well, it’ll help,” said Peggy Schroeder, one of the owners at Schroeder’s Flowers in Allouez.
“There were weeks where we didn’t have anything in the cooler because there wasn’t anyone coming in,” she said. “So yeah, it’s been a real change. You know, I think people are now starting to get out a little bit and wanting to have their yards full of color and working their yards, so that makes a difference.”
Like many businesses, both look forward to things getting back to normal.
But until then….Hitchcock and Schroeder tell FOX 11….
“We expect to be open on May 26 and ready to go,” said Hitchcock.
“I would hope so, although today seems more like normal,” said Schroeder.
Everyone will continue to adjust.
The Safer at Home order was extended until May 26th, but legislative leaders are challenging that extension in state supreme court right now.
