MANITOWOC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The Boys and Girls Club of Manitowoc County is one step closer to having a new space.
The club’s proposal to buy a portion of the former downtown Mirro site for $1 was approved Tuesday by the city’s Committee of the Whole.
The plan calls for the Boys and Girls Club to build a $3 to $4 million facility on the vacant property in the 1500 block of Washington St.
The facility would only take up half of the available property.
The club’s executive director, Bill Bertsche, tells FOX 11the location is perfect.
“This site is central to the kids that need us most in the community, so its perfect location as it’s central to most of the schools in the area, as well as a blank canvas that allows us to create a facility that allows us to best meet the programming needs of our community.”
The Boys and Girls Club and the city is still working on the details as to how the property would be laid out.
