MARINETTE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Chelsea O’Donnell will be headed to prison, the Wisconsin Department of Corrections confirmed Thursday.
O’Donnell, 28, was convicted of drug possession and obstruction in Marinette County. In March, she was placed on probation and was admitted to a drug treatment court program. Besides probation, a one-year prison sentence was imposed but stayed, which meant she wasn’t sent to prison, but could be at a later date, if warranted.
A court order entered last week listed a ‘change in status’ to “Revoked – Sentenced to Prison (State Probation).” However, state prison records do not list as an inmate at any state facility.
On Thursday, the state explained her status:
“Chelsea O’Donnell’s probation was revoked on Oct. 16 for violating the terms of her supervision. She is currently being held at the Marinette County Jail pending transport to serve out her prison sentence. At this time, we do not yet know where that will be,” said Kevin Hoffman, Deputy Director of Communications for the DOC.
The court action prompted Rosie O’Donnell to post on Instagram: “My child chelsea belle – before addiction took over her life – i loved her then i love her now as she faces a scary future- prayers welcomed- #addiction awareness #love #family”
In a statement to People Magazine, she said: “I have compassion for those struggling with addiction – Chelsea was born into addiction and it has been a painful journey for her and her four young children. We continue to love and support her through these horrible times. Prayers welcomed.”
