GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — Friday will be the last day of asymptomatic Community Testing for the COVID-19 Coronavirus in Brown County.
Brown County Exectuive Troy Streckenbach says the over 10,000 community tests conducted at the Resch Center and Casa ALBA Melanie sites have allowed officials to learn a lot about the state of the virus in the county.
“From the preliminary results that we’ve seen, for asymptomatic individuals the positive rate is very low,” Streckenbach said Wednesday. “With symptoms, the rate is a little bit higher.”
“Right now our intentions are to transition this to the healthcare systems to provide…symptomatic testing,” he added.
That means the community sites will be shutting down and the National Guard units staffing them will be heading home.
“On Saturday, May 23, if you have a symptom you call your health care provider,” Streckenbach explained. “They will provide you the guidance on how to get a test.”
Uninsured people should contact the NEW Community Clinic.
There are still testing spots available for Friday. You can sign up for a test online at stayhealthybc.com or by calling 211.
