GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A 17-year-old girl admitted to having six shots of alcohol in the time leading up to a crash just after 5 a.m. Monday, which resulted in her passenger landing in the Fox River.
Ayne Valle-Nunez was charged with injury by intoxicated use a vehicle, and two counts of OWI causing injury – first offense. A $2,500 cash bond was set at her initial appearance Tuesday. She returns to court June 2 for a balance of initial appearance, court records show.
According to the criminal complaint, one of the injured passengers told police several people were at a friend’s house drinking from about 11 p.m. to 3 a.m. Monday. They left, picked up a friend, and drove to the Fox River to watch the sunrise. They stayed about an hour, finished a bottle of tequila, and when they left, Valle-Nunez lost control of the vehicle while on the Nitschke Main Street Bridge.
Two passengers were ejected. One landed on the bridge, while another landed in the Fox River and was rescued.
At the hospital, “Anye stated she had been drinking. She stated she had been drinking approximately 2 shots of tequila, a couple of shots, and then later 2 shots,” the complaint states.
The complaint does not mention any breath test. A blood draw was taken, but it typically takes several weeks for those results to be returned.
