GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – As America continues to reopen, the City of Green Bay says it has come up with plans to open one of its pools, its playgrounds, and the rest of its parks.
Those reopening plans include the most popular park in the city, Bay Beach Amusement Park. A soft opening is planned for the weekend of June 20th and 21st. If all goes well, it will reopen with limited capacity the following Friday.
To reopen, the city is planning to limit capacity by about 50 percent through a wristband system. The wristbands would be on a first come, first served basis, and would replace the individual tickets being sold.
Every other ride seat would be blocked off. The open seats would be sanitized between riders. Markings would also be put down in ride lines so everyone is socially distanced.
The soft opening weekend is tentative based on getting staff and the necessary cleaning and safety items ready.
The city also released a set of reopening plans for other sites and events moving forward.
Colburn Pool is set to open in early July. The parks director says staff shortages will likely keep the Resch and Joannes Aquatic Centers closed for the summer.
City playgrounds will open this Friday.
Joannes Skatepark and Whitney Dog Park will open to the public next Wednesday.
Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary will reopen in phases leading up to July 6th.
The city says all dates are tentative.
