WAUPACA COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A driver who allegedly intentionally caused a traffic crash hoping to kill himself — but instead killed a woman in the truck he hit — now faces a reckless homicide charge.
Logan Stedjee, 17, made an initial appearance Tuesday in Waupaca County court. All of the appearances were by video conferencing due to the state Supreme Court’s rules limiting in-person court appearances.
Bond was set at $25,000 cash. Stedjee returns to court June 17 for a preliminary hearing.
According to the criminal complaint, Stedjee was headed westbound May 30 on County D at approximately 100 mph when ignored a stop sign and struck an eastbound truck on County O. The female driver of the truck was killed. She has not been identified.
Stedjee suffered a broken bone in his foot and a broken finger. Police interviewed him at the hospital.
“(The officer) asked Logan, what was the reason he ran the stop sign. And he indicated that he was depressed,” the complaint states.
“Stedjee sent a Facebook Message which stated ‘I’m crashing my car and killing my sled (sic)’ ‘Myself.’ The 911 call of the crash was received 3 minutes later,” the complaint states.
