KAUKAUNA, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Three men were arrested in connection with a Kaukauna house fire.
Police say they arrested two 21-year-old men, one from Little Chute and the other from Appleton, along with a 20-year-old man from Hollandtown Tuesday.
The men were booked into the Outagamie County Jail on recommended charges of arson, burglary and criminal damage to property.
A fire caused extensive damage to a home on Dixon St. Monday just before 3:30 a.m.
Investigators learned the three men entered the abandoned home without the consent of the owner and began destorying items that were left inside the home and lighting them on fire.
At one point, the men lit a mattress on fire.
Two of the men left the home and the third fell asleep inside. A short time later, the man that fell asleep in the house woke up to smoke and flames.
The man left the home without any injuries.
A neighbor who saw the house on fire, called 911.
