MILWAUKEE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Wisconsin’s signature music festival is being canceled because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Summerfest organizers announced today (THUR) that this year’s event has been scrubbed. The festival along Milwaukee’s lakefront had previously been rescheduled for September. However, organizers announced:
‘Given the information available today, and the uncertainty surrounding very large gatherings, we cannot in good conscience proceed with the festival this year. The immediate future presents multiple levels of risk for our fans, and we choose the side of safety.’
Organizers called the situation “especially disheartening” since the $53 million American Family Insurance Amphitheater was scheduled to open June 24.
