OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Oshkosh’s first outdoor gallery launches this weekend.
While the COVID-19 pandemic canceled many community events, the Mini Mural Project downtown Oshkosh is still on.
The project features digital prints of 20 local artists applied on exterior walls of buildings throughout the downtown area.
Starting Saturday, art gazers can visit all the pieces while maintaining social distance.
The entire gallery will be put up overnight in a flurry of activity by a volunteer team of professional installers .
They will be occasionally accompanied by street musicians throughout the night.
One artist explained why the project means so much for the city of Oshkosh.
“It’s awesome that the building owners were willing to allow us to use their buildings for free and then the other half of this is that it’s so cool to be able to get this stage and give essentially a voice to others to be able to communicate and express themselves,” said artist, Joshua Marquardt.
