GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Restaurants are open and back to business as usual… mostly.
Health guidelines during the COVID-19 pandemic have made dining out a little different.
Tables are 6 feet apart. Surfaces are being wiped down constantly.
“We just want people to feel secure when they come here,” said General Manager Sid Boehm of Margarita’s.
At Margarita’s you’ll even have dividers between tables. Boehm tells FOX 11 going the extra mile is needed right now.
“We’re trying to follow safety protocols and its not just a free for all. I think they appreciate the extra step we’re taking.”
Some of the guidelines suggested by the Brown County Health Department include: having employees self-monitor for symptoms, wearing masks while working, and disinfecting menus.
However, at Hagemeister Park, you won’t even touch a menu.
They are using QR codes instead of menus. Customers get a card with a code and can scan it with their mobile device. This takes them straight to the menu online.
Hagemesiter Park manager Corey Vann tells FOX 11 he’s a fan of this new change.
“The QR codes are great, we just take them and throw them away and it’s important to have because of cross contamination.”
This change may even be here when COVID-19 is gone.
“We’ve condensed it all into one little card,” Vann said, “people like it, people appreciate it.”
Even dividers may be part of the new normal.
“If it’s not a nuisance we’ll probably keep them up,” Boehm said.
But the overall goal for both is to keep customers and staff safe.
