GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The newly-renovated Del Marcelle Stadium at Green Bay West High School was re-dedicated Friday night.
Officials held a ceremony prior to West’s football game against their 120-year rival, Green Bay East, to celebrate the milestone.
The stadium was completely re-done thanks to a community-supported 2022 referendum. It is now ADA compliant and meets WIAA regulations for hosting conferences and playoffs.
Improvements include new synthetic turf, a renovated track, a new 2,000+ seat grandstand and press box, restrooms, a concession stand, a video scoreboard and a storage facility.
“It represents pride, progress and a possibility. It is a space where our students come to compete, to grow and to belong,” said West Principal Dexter McNabb. “We also pause to honor the man whose name this stadium carries, Dr. Del Marcelle. His legacy reminds us all that one person can make a lasting difference.”
Other projects completed at West High School as part of the 2022 referendum include a new addition to the weight room and an auditorium renovation.
