(GREEN BAY ROCKERS) – The Green Bay Rockers rounded out their position player group today with the addition of six players. The team has signed infielders Seungmin Shin (New Mexico Military Institute), Ryan Soong (Wash U-St. Louis), Payton Fort (Georgia Gwinnett), and Eric Fernandez (Tallahassee State) along with catcher Caden Mitchell (Weatherford College) and utilityman Zach Novakowski (Ramapo College).
Seungmin Shin – INF – 6’0”/182 – Sophomore
Shin is having a monster spring for New Mexico Military Institute. In 34 games this season, he has hit to the tune of a .500 batting average while leading his team with seven triples, 15 home runs, 57 runs scored and 49 RBIs. He also carries a team-leading on-base percentage of .619, aided by 25 walks, while ranking second on the Broncos with 53 hits. The Seoul, South Korea native hit for the cycle this spring in a game against Clarendon on March, 14th.
Ryan Soong – INF – 5’8”/180 – Sophomore
Soong is following up a great freshman season by appearing in 18 games this spring and batting a cool .397 with a .524 on-base percentage for Wash U. He has stolen 11 bases in 13 attempts while swatting two home runs and driving in 13. As a freshman, the McLean, Virginia native appeared in 34 games and finished the season with a .327 batting average with 34 hits, two home runs, and 11 RBIs. Soong is no stranger to summer baseball having competed in the Cal Ripken Collegiate League last summer. In 34 games he posted a .363 batting average while getting on base at a .511 clip, which ranked first in the entire league. He also stole 33 bases, which ranks second all-time in Cal Ripken League history. For his efforts he was named 2025 First Team All-League as a utility player.
Payton Fort – INF – 6’1”/200 – Junior
After previously playing for Rockers field manager Josh Merrill at Northern Iowa Area Community College, Fort transferred to NAIA powerhouse Georgia Gwinnett this spring where he has compiled a .405 batting average with five home runs and 36 RBIs through his first 34 games this spring. Fort has also walked 26 times versus 12 strikeouts, which has led to a .535 on-base percentage while also stealing 22 bases. The left-handed hitter is a native of Council Bluffs, Iowa.
Eric Fernandez – INF – 6’3”/205 – Redshirt Sophomore
A slick fielding shortstop, Fernandez has appeared in 41 games for Tallahassee State this season and has hit to the tune of a .309 batting average while leading his team with 47 hits. The left-handed hitter was named the No. 5 rated junior college shortstop in the country heading into the 2026 season and is committed to attend the University of Louisiana-Lafayette next year. He is a native of Miami, Florida.
Caden Mitchell – C – 6’1”/205 – Redshirt Sophomore
Touted as the No. 1 JUCO catching prospect in the country and No. 17 overall player, Mitchell has appeared in 28 games this spring for Weatherford College and has hit .270 with five home runs and a .405 on-base percentage. The University of Oklahoma commit appeared in 40 games as a redshirt freshman while batting .343 with five home runs and 28 RBI a season ago. He is a native of Celina, Texas.
Zach Novakowski – UTIL – 5’10”/190 – Junior
In his third season at Ramapo College, the utilityman Novakowski has appeared in 18 games this spring while hitting .281 with two home runs and 20 RBI. As a sophomore he started 43 games while recording a .305 batting average along with a .519 slugging percentage, ranking third on the team with 47 hits including 15 doubles, three triples and four home runs. He also finished the season by going 13-for-15 in stolen base attempts. He is a native of Hillsdale, New Jersey.
