(ST NORBERT COMMUNICATIONS) DE PERE – DE PERE – St. Norbert College opened its outdoor season with a dominant first-place finish at its own Early Bird Meet at Schneider Stadium, topping a nine-team field.
The Green Knights totaled 298 points, earning 11 event victories. UW-Stevens Point came in second place with 142 points.
Casey Vaughan won the 100-meter dash in 12.8 seconds, while Katie Smith took first in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.34. Madison Gramblicka added a win in the 400-meter dash in 1:02.01, and Bijou Phillips captured the 5,000-meter run in 18:38.76. Gretchen Schwarz also earned a first-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles, clocking in at 16.53.
St. Norbert saw continued success in the relays and field events, as the 4×100-meter relay team of Vaughan, Smith, Gracie Wolfe, and Madi Crossman placed first in 49.55. The team of Rachael Allen, Kendra Troxel, Madison Gramblicka, and Catherine Fairbanks finished first in the 4×400-meter relay in 4:36.67.
Lillia Carson won the long jump with a mark of 5.1 meters, and Alli Clark took first in the triple jump at 10.63. Isabello Galindo earned first place in the pole vault with a height of 3.35. Taylor Thiry captured both the shot put and discus throw titles with a throw of 11.84 for shot put and 37.82 for discus.
MEN
St. Norbert College placed second out of nine teams at its first outdoor meet of the season at Schneider Stadium, tallying nine first-place finishes.
The Green Knights totaled 185 points, just six points shy of UW-Stevens Point who claimed the team title with 191 points.
Ryan Flood won the 400-meter dash in 52.09, while Lars Huffman captured the 1,500-meter run in 4:07.83. St. Norbert also earned wins in both relays, with the 4×100-meter team of Noah Antolec, Cole Wiedenbeck, Ian Blom, and Maxwell Jayne finishing first in 44.99, and the 4×400-meter team of Jacob Larson (pictured), Ian Meyer, Carson Hammer, and Maddix Mueller winning in 3:37.73.
In the field events, Hunter Thiel won the long jump with a mark of 6.1 meters, while Anthony Osborn took first in the triple jump at 12.76. Jacob Klitzke collected wins in both the hammer throw and shot put, with distances of 52.22 and 16.75, respectively. Ezra Schermacher earned a first-place finish in the pole vault, clearing a height of 4.96.
