GRAND CHUTE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A piece of equipment caught fire inside a Grand Chute garage, resulting in minor damage to the structure.
On Sunday evening, the Grand Chute Fire Department was called to the 4200 block of N. McCarthy Road for a report of a skid steer on fire inside a detached garage.
When crews arrived, the homeowner was attempting to control the fire by putting snow onto the burning machinery. Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze and remained on scene for approximately one hour conducting an investigation and assisting with cleanup efforts.
Officials say the garage sustained “very minimal” structural damage, but was impacted by smoke from the fire. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
In light of this incident, the Grand Chute Fire Department reminds all homeowners to have easily accessible fire extinguishers in their homes, garages and workshops.
