GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The former Preble High School student convicted in juvenile court for bringing a loaded gun and ammunition to school remains in a secure youth facility, as he hasn’t completed the treatment program.
While juvenile court proceedings are closed to the public, there is an exception to allow the media to cover such hearings, with the condition the juvenile and their family members not be identified.
In December, Judge Beau Liegeois formalized the sentence for the Sept. 9 incident at Preble. No one was hurt.
Jason Halbach, a Brown County Health and Human Services case manager, said in court Monday the teen has only completed one of the three treatment phases. While making progress, the teen continues to have “horseplay” and authority issues, he said.
Halbach and Assistant District Attorney Aaron Linssen agreed the teen continues to make progress, and if he completes the requirements, he can be released to his family. Such a move does not require additional court approval, and no additional hearings were scheduled.
The gun incident led to changes in school security in Green Bay schools.
