SUAMICO, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A dog was safely reunited with its owner after falling through the ice near the Bay of Green Bay.
The Suamico Fire Department responded to Sensiba Wildlife Refuge near the Bay of Green Bay Friday for a reported dog in distress on the ice.
Upon arrival, crews confirmed that a three-year-old Labrador named Mitsy had fallen through the ice approximately 100 feet from shore and was unable to get out.
The Suamico Fire Department deployed its Ice Water Rescue Team, utilizing specialized equipment and training to safely reach the dog.
Firefighters were able to successfully rescue Mitsy from the icy water and bring her back to shore.
Once on land, Mitsy was evaluated by EMS personnel and found to be in stable condition. She was then safely reunited with her owner.
