(MARQUETTE COMMUNICATIONS) EVANSTON, ILL – The Marquette University women’s lacrosse team took on their first road test of the 2026 season, falling to No. 4 Northwestern, 25-7, Friday evening at Ryan Fieldhouse.
The Golden Eagles were led by a pair of goals from Riley Jenkins, while Tess Osburn tallied two points with a goal and an assist. In total, six different MU attackers found the back of the net.
The Wildcats took an early lead off a free-position goal, but Jenkins responded with a goal of her own to knot it at one each. After another NU goal, Osburn found the back of the net off the bounce and a feed from Ella Mautz to again knot the game at two each with 5:13 remaining in the opening quarter. NU would score the next three to take a 5-2, but MU would cut into the lead from a goal by CJ Meehan, trimming the deficit to two.
The Wildcats would score five unanswered to lead, 10-3, before Jenkins found her second goal of the day off a feed from Dani Serrano to cut into the home team advantage. NU would score another four to extend their lead, 14-4, heading into the halftime break.
NU would keep the momentum out of the half, scoring another five before Hanna Bodner broke the streak with a nifty move to beat her defender, moving the score to 5-19 heading into the fourth. From there, the Golden Eagles added goals from Sarah Beth Burns and Isabelle Casucci, but the Wildcats took the game, 25-7, and handed MU their first loss of the season.
