MANITOWOC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A drunken Manitowoc woman allegedly shot the man who lives with her in the ankles through the bathroom door during an argument, according to the probable cause statement.
Julia Gundt, 29, appeared in court Tuesday for bail hearing on requested charges of first-degree recklessly endangering safety. Formal charges have not been filed.
Bond was set at $25,000 cash. She returns to court Monday for an initial appearance.
The heavily-redacted probable cause statement suggests the two are in a relationship, but the specifics are blacked out.
Police were called to the Johnston Drive address Monday morning for a shooting.
The victim told police they had been arguing, so he went into the bathroom and closed the door for his safety. Julia found the gun, which had hidden from her. He was about to leave the bathroom when he heard a loud bang and discovered he had been shot.
In a news release, police said the victim suffered gunshot wounds to both ankles.
Police found a bullet hole in the bathroom door, and in a bathroom wall.
Gundt also fired a random shot in the home two weeks prior. In both cases, there were two others present. The probable cause statement suggests the other two were children, but it is unclear due to the redactions.
Due to her intoxicated state, police did not interview Gundt, the probable cause statement says.
