BRILLION, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Professional disc golf is coming to Calumet County.
On Friday, the Professional Disc Golf Association announced the Ariens Nordic Center in Brillion has been selected as one of the venues for the 2028 U.S. Women’s Disc Golf Championship.
Officials say the event will bring approximately 350 competitors and 2,500 spectators to the area, as well as “national attention and significant economic impact.” The championship will be hosted in partnership with the Lakeshore Ladies Disc Golf Corporation based in Manitowoc.
It was also revealed Friday that Ariens Nordic Center is opening a new disc golf course, which is currently in the preliminary design phase but scheduled to open this summer.
“We are thrilled to host the U.S. Women’s Disc Golf Championship and to introduce disc golf at Ariens Nordic Center,” said Managing Director Monica Ariens in a news release.
This event is a fantastic opportunity to showcase our venue, attract visitors to Calumet County and Manitowoc County and create a world-class disc golf experience for players and fans alike.
Lindsey Krause, president and founder of the Lakeshore Ladies Disc Golf Corporation, added, “The Ariens Nordic Center is an incredible venue that will be adding yet another championship level disc golf course to Northeast Wisconsin. The scenic setting and commitment to excellence make it the perfect location for hosting this premier event. We can’t wait to see competitors and spectators enjoy everything this venue has to offer.”
The mission of Ariens Nordic Center is to provide the community with diverse outdoor recreation opportunities. Officials believe the new disc golf course will complement the existing Nordic skiing, biathlon events and year-round activities, making it a destination for sports enthusiasts across the Midwest.
