MANITOWOC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Two of the suspects in an alleged Virginia-to-Manitowoc drug ring pleaded not guilty Thursday.
Andre Allen waived a preliminary hearing and pleaded not guilty to amphetamine delivery. No trial date was set. He returns to court Feb. 13, court records show.
Karonn Hamilton also waived his preliminary hearing and pleaded not guilty. No trial date was set. He returns to court March 11.
Corven Jones is also charged in the case. He has a balance of initial appearance Monday.
“This was a joint investigation with Metro Drug Unit and the DEA, involving a confidential informant for an agreed meet here in Manitowoc. Inside of the vehicle in which the three defendants were observed in was a suitcase in which law enforcement uncovered over 11,000 grams of methamphetamine,” said Manitowoc County Assistant District Attorney Seth Reinhard said at a previous hearing.
Investigators determined two of the men had loaded guns — one of which was determined to have been stolen from Virginia.
According to Reinhard, “There was a firearm that was located that was discarded by Mr. Allen near the parking lot where he was arrested.”
Investigators also found more than 25 pounds of meth.
“The court is well aware of the danger of methamphetamine, but this sheer amount is greatly dangerous The street value of this amount of methamphetamine is estimated to be about $250,000, so this is a significant amount of methamphetamine that was located here,” added Reinhard.
Agents believe Hamilton, Allen and Jones traveled to Manitowoc from Virginia to deliver the drugs.
