NEENAH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The city of Neenah has announced it has reached its fundraising goal of $280,000 for the restoration and preservation of the Kimberly Point Lighthouse.
The fundraising campaign for the Kimberly Point Lighthouse Preservation Project kicked off on National Lighthouse Day in early August.
The city says over 140 people donated to the project.
In addition to reaching the fundraising goal, an anonymous donor has established a perpetual care fund, which will provide long-term financial support for ongoing maintenance for the lighthouse.
“This is a great moment for our community,” Neenah Mayor Jane Lang said. “Reaching our fundraising goal and securing a perpetual care fund ensures that the Kimberly Point Lighthouse will continue to shine as a symbol of Neenah’s history, pride, and commitment to preservation.”
Now that the fundraising goal has been reached, a new timeline has been released for the restoration project:
Groundbreaking celebration on August 7, 2026 (National Lighthouse Day).
Expected construction from late Fall 2026 through Spring of 2027.
“The community’s enthusiasm and support have truly been inspiring,” Parks & Recreation Director Michael Kading said. “The stories of the impact Kimberly Point Park and the lighthouse have had on the community, families, and individuals are so encouraging.”
Although the fundraising goal has been met, donations will continue to be accepted through May 1. Donors can choose to donate to either the building fund or the perpetual care fund.
