(GREEN BAY ATHLETICS) GREEN BAY – The Green Bay men’s basketball team suffered an 80–78 home loss Thursday night, as Robert Morris’ Nikolaos Chitikoudis hit a game-winning layup with 2.6 seconds to give the Colonials the win.
The Phoenix (4-6, 0-1) had four players score in double figures, led by Justin Allen, who had 20 points. Preston Ruedinger added 17 points and six assists, and Marcus Hall chipped in as well with 14 points.
Robert Morris (7-3, 1-0) was led by DeSean Goode, who scored 18 points and pulled down a game-high nine rebounds. Ryan Prather scored 11 points and had five rebounds. Darius Livingston and Cam Wilds also contributed with scoring 10 points apiece off the bench.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After falling behind 10-5, Green Bay went on an 8-0 run with 15:10 left in the first half, finished off by a bucket from C.J. O’Hara, to take a 13-10 lead. Robert Morris took the lead, going up 16-15 off a DeSean Goode layup with 10:43 remaining in the half. The Colonials maintained that lead the rest of the way in the first half, heading into halftime up 36-33.
Robert Morris was up 41-37 before Green Bay went on a 13-2 run to seize a 50-43 lead with 16:00 to go in the contest. The Phoenix was up 76-65 with 3:03 remaining, when the visitors ripped off a 13-2 run in the final minutes, capped off by a Darius Livingston three to give the Colonials a 78-77 lead with 22 seconds remaining.
