KIEL, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Kiel Ald. Kathy Schuette resigned Tuesday, ending a month-long dog poop scandal.
It comes after her husband was determined to have been leaving dog feces on the doorstep of a local pet store.
“In regards to the dog s*** — it was in waste bags, as I understand. It was not spread all over. It was a bag deposited on her steps,” said Schuette prior to her resignation. “I personally had no knowledge that that was occurring until the publicity from the newspaper and the television called me the day after the meeting to let me know.”
Ald. Tyler Guell countered, “It was many bags and it had been happening for a long time.” Schuette refuted this claim.
Christel’s Pet Supplies & More made a series of posts between Oct. 31 and Nov. 4, posting pictures of bags of dog poop left on their doorstep. On Nov. 18, a post read:
UPDATE on the Poop Fairy – BUSTED. The perpetrator was caught on camera throwing a bag of dog poop onto our porch and has been apprehended and fined. With that said, we are choosing to not publicly name the offender in a post. Thank you for your support. Hopefully this is the end of this issue.
Schuette had previously served as the chair of the business improvement district, but was later replaced by the owner of Christel’s Pet Supplies & More. Schuette expressed displeasure with the board during her time.
“My opinion — probably retaliatory,” said Guell. “There’s a lot of other places that he could have thrown that on your block. Why did it end up on her porch? And under her porch? And all over her yard?”
There were a few other issues raised Tuesday night relating to a misappropriation of funds and Schuette’s competence due to health issues. She ended the meeting by resigning and leaving immediately.
