(WTAQ-WLUK) — Community members are invited to weigh in on proposed improvements to a stretch of US 41 in Oconto and Marinette counties.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation launched a new web page Monday for the 20.6-mile project on US 41 between Frog Pond Road in Oconto County and Wayside Lane in Marinette County.
It includes maps and displays of the improvements, descriptions of construction improvements, a possible schedule, traffic impacts and temporary business signing information for a full closure on WIS 22.
“The purpose of the website is to provide information regarding the proposed improvements, describe the potential impacts it would have on the community and offer an opportunity for public comment,” a news release states.
Proposed improvements include:
- Concrete pavement repairs on US 41 mainline, ramps and crossroads
- Mill and overlay the asphalt shoulders on US 41 and ramps and at grade intersections
- Inlet and curb and gutter repairs
- Culvert repairs
- Upgrade curb ramps at the WIS 22/County Y overpass
- Minor repairs on various bridges
Construction is currently anticipated to begin in 2031, but WisDOT says it could be advanced to 2029 or 2030.
US 41 will remain open to traffic throughout construction. A 2-3 week closure of WIS 22 would be necessary for improvements at the WIS 22/County Y overpass.
WisDOT is asking the public to review the project’s scope, schedule and traffic impacts and provide comments online. There is a comment form on the website with a prepaid mailer to reply to the project team. You can also email the project team or call them directly with your comments.
