MENASHA, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The city of Menasha marked the completion of a major road construction project.
Racine Street, between Third Street and Ninth Street, underwent full reconstruction in early spring to link downtown to the WIS 441/USH 10 highway.
The $4.6 million project features new concrete pavement, new sidewalk, traffic signal upgrades, new pavement markings, and an improved railroad crossing.
“I want to thank our residents, businesses, and visitors for their patience throughout the Racine Street Project,” said Menasha Mayor, Austin Hammond. “This improvement enhances safety, accessibility, and connectivity for everyone who travels through our community, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the teamwork that made it possible.”
It was primarily funded through the Urban Surface Transportation Block Grant, a federal cost-share grant awarded to road projects in urbanized areas with populations over 5,000. The grant covered 75% of the total costs and the city of Menasha was responsible for the remaining 25%.
The project was completed ahead of schedule.
