(WTAQ-WLUK) — A woman was sentenced to five years in prison for a drug-related crime on the Menominee Indian Reservation.
Dianna Chevalier, 41, formerly of Keshena, pleaded guilty in May to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.
Court officials say Chevalier was the passenger in a vehicle that fled from law enforcement in Shawano County back in September 2024. Authorities continued the chase as the vehicle entered the reservation.
“The vehicle drove north through Keshena and ultimately stopped at a residence near Crow Settlement Road and Wisconsin State Highway 47. Chevalier and others jumped out of the car and began to run toward the residence but were apprehended outside the home,” a news release states.
Chevalier had “multiple plastic bags on her person” containing more than 43 grams of methamphetamine.
At her sentencing hearing, the judge emphasized Chevalier’s lengthy criminal history and the damage illegal drugs have on the Menominee Indian Reservation and other communities.
Chevalier will also spend five years on supervised release after getting out of prison.
