APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Appleton police say a former board member of the Hearthstone Historic House is facing theft charges.
Last week the department received a tip about money being misappropriated during the suspect’s tenure on the board.
It was determined through the investigation that a substantial amount of money was misappropriated.
On Friday, charges of Felony Theft under Wisconsin State Statute 943.20(1)(b) were referred to the Outagamie County District Attorney’s Office. Formal charges have not been filed.
The investigation remains active.
The Hearthstone Historic House has been cooperative throughout the investigation and continues to assist investigators as needed, police say.
