NEWTON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Newton broke ground on a modern fire station to its boost emergency services.
The new 15,194-square-foot fire station will serve as the home for both the Newton Fire Department and Newton First Responders.
It’s located directly across from the existing fire station which was built decades ago.
For years, the department has outgrown the space. Fire trucks have been stored off-site, training and meeting areas are limited, and there is little space for firefighter rehabilitation or equipment maintenance.
The new, ground-up facility will provide dedicated vehicle bays, gear storage, training and meeting rooms, administrative offices, and areas for firefighter rest and recovery.
When complete, the new fire station will enhance emergency response times, improve operational efficiency, and provide a modern, safe, and functional environment for the town’s firefighters and first responders to serve the community effectively.
The project was approved by Newton residents through a spring 2025 referendum.
Construction is scheduled to begin this winter, with completion anticipated in summer 2026.
