Door County Candle Company launches "Golden State" candle, profits to American Red Cross to aid wildfire victims in Southern California
STURGEON BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The Door County Candle Company is giving its customers a way to support the victims of Hurricane Melissa in Jamaica.
As part of the company’s Support a Cause candle line, a Jamaica Hurricane Relief candle is now available to purchase.
The tropical passionfruit-scented candles are being sold for $29.95. All proceeds will go directly to Hurricane Melissa relief.
Hurricane Melissa is one of the strongest Atlantic hurricanes in history and is the first Category 5 hurricane to hit Jamaica in the island’s history since it began recordkeeping around 174 years ago. The hurricane also hit Cuba as a Category 2 storm. Excessive damage, flooding, power outages and landslides are reported throughout the island.
Hurricane Melissa caused seven deaths in the Caribbean, including three in Jamaica, three in Haiti, and one in the Dominican Republic, where another person remains missing.
In the past, the Support a Cause line has supported recovery efforts for the Texas floods, Maui wildfires, Hurricanes Helene and Milton, the California wildfires, and many more. It all started three years ago when the Ukrainian-American woman-owned business began selling blue and yellow candles with 100% of profits going to support Ukraine after the Russian invasion.
