OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Officials in Winnebago County say the body of a man was found in Lake Winnebago after a report of floating items in the water.
The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office says they were called to the Mill Street Bat Launch in Oshkosh around 11:30 Saturday morning.
Officials had recieved a call about “suspicious items and possible clothing floating” in the water, about 50 feet from the shore just southeast of the mouth of the Fox River, according to a press release from officials.
The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office launched it’s boat in the water to inspect the items, and confirmed that the body of an adult man was found.
“His identity is known but is being withheld pending notification of family members,” the release says.
