GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A chemical spill at a Green Bay meat packaging plant was contained.
Green Bay Metro Fire Department was called for a chemical spill in the 1300 block of Lime Kiln Road Thursday around 1:45 a.m.
A tote filled with a cleaning acid had tipped over while being moved with a fork lift.
Workers had already evacuated the garage area before firefighters arrived. No one was injured from the spill.
The acid was off gassing in a garage chemical storage location.
Green Bay’s hazmat team transferred the product to an unused tote. Once this was complete, the leaking tote was up righted and spilling was mitigated.
All chemicals spilled were contained to drains that flowed to an onsite water treatment plant.
The site was turned back over to company around 5:30 a.m.
