Eric Abresch (Outagamie Co. Jail)
APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Eric Abresch pleaded not guilty Wednesday to allegedly supplying the drugs used in a fatal overdose.
He is charged with first-degree reckless homicide in connection with an August, 2022, overdose at an Appleton home. A December trial is anticipated but a final date was not finalized.
Julius Elmer, who allegedly provided the drugs to Abresch, is also charged. Elmer is scheduled to stand trial March 2, also on a reckless homicide charge.
In August 2022, police were called to investigate the death of a 42-year-old Appleton resident in the 500 block of E. Winnebago Street. The victim’s name has not been released.
According to the criminal complaints, police entered the apartment and found the unresponsive woman. Abresch admitted to the police he was the one who called 9-1-1 to report the victim needed medical attention. He denied giving her drugs, and said he tried to help her.
The cause of death was listed as “acute mixed drug (Acetylfentanyl, Alprazolam and Fentanyl) toxicity,” the complaint states.
