MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Wisconsin had a $4.6 billion budget surplus to end the 2025 fiscal year, Gov. Tony Evers’ administration announced Wednesday.
The surplus was $265 million more than previously estimated for the fiscal year that ended June 30.
Additionally, the administration said the state’s “rainy day fund” increased to a record of nearly $2 billion.
According to the Department of Administration, tax collections for the state’s general fund were $22.4 billion, up 4.8% over the previous year.
In July, the Legislature passed and Evers signed a $111 billion two-year budget. It included $1.4 billion in tax cuts for working people and retirees, the elimination of sales taxes on residential electric bills and increases in fees for driver’s licenses, license plates and vehicle titles.
