(WTAQ-WLUK) — Ascension Wisconsin is no longer “in-network” with UnitedHealthcare’s Commercial, Medicare and Medicaid health insurance plans after a new deal could not be reached.
The contract expired at midnight.
On Wednesday morning, Ascension Wisconsin posted on its website:
Despite several months of negotiations, we have not been able to secure an agreement that would provide fair terms for the vital healthcare services we provide UnitedHealthcare members at our facilities throughout Wisconsin.
As a result, services at all Ascension Wisconsin hospitals, clinics and physician practices are considered out-of-network under current UnitedHealthcare plans, and may affect patients’ out-of-pocket costs.
Ascension Wisconsin encourages all impacted UnitedHealthcare Medicare and Medicaid members to move to new plans during the open enrollment period beginning October 15, 2025.
Ascension’s facilities in Northeast Wisconsin include Ascension NE Wisconsin – St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton, Ascension NE Wisconsin – Mercy Hospital in Oshkosh and Ascension Calumet Hospital in Chilton.
