GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Green Bay East High School was briefly placed in a “secure” status Thursday in response to an alleged threat between two students.
Principal Lisa Lipp sent a letter to families regarding the situation. She said the school was temporarily under a “secure the building – inside situation” to allow administration to search for the student who was identified as having made the alleged threat.
After it was determined the student was not inside the school, the secure status was lifted and the day proceeded as normal.
Approximately 30 minutes after the threat was allegedly made, police located the student off-campus and took the student into custody. Lipp said no weapon was found, but an investigation is ongoing.
She said students who make threats “are dealt with immediately and may face discipline, up to and including expulsion, and may also face police charges.”

Dear East Families:
East High School was briefly in “secure the building – inside situation” in response to an allegation of a threat between two students. By securing the building, school administration was able to search for the student identified as making the threat. Once it was determined that the student was not in the school, the “secure” was lifted and the school day proceeded as normal. Within approximately 30 minutes of the threat being made, police were able to make off-campus contact with the identified student suspected of the alleged threat and took the individual into custody. No weapon was found. School administration and the School Resource Officer are continuing to investigate the allegations regarding the threat.
The safety of our students and staff is always our highest priority. When there are rumors regarding threats, we always take them seriously and do an investigation and a threat assessment with our school police officers, administration, and student services team. Students who make threats are dealt with immediately and may face discipline, up to and including expulsion, and may also face police charges.
Students and families are encouraged to send any information they may have about threats to Speak Up/Speak Out at 1-800-697-8761 or Crime Stoppers at 920-432-STOP (7867). You may also submit a tip online at www.432stop.com or utilize the “P3 Tips” app for crime tips.
