OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A ribbon cutting ceremony was held Thursday to officially mark the opening of the Oshkosh Marriott Waterfront Hotel & Convention Center.
It’s located downtown at 1 N. Main Street.
“This is so much more than a new name on the building. It’s a renewed commitment to excellence, to hospitality and to this community we are proud to serve,” said Rob Sadoff with Scarlett Hotel Group.
The hotel features 176 newly-renovated rooms, a new restaurant called Anchor & Port, an expanded ballroom, a 2,000-square-foot event space on the riverwalk with waterfront views of the Fox River, a large bar area and an exclusive work/leisure space for Marriott members. Sadoff said they will also be redoing the 25,000-square-foot convention center across the street.
“It’s an exciting day for Oshkosh. It’s really exciting for our businesses, the entire community,” said Rob Kleman, president/CEO of the Oshkosh Chamber of Commerce.
This hotel is a cornerstone investment that enhances our city’s riverfront, it provides a welcoming gateway for visitors to Oshkosh, a gathering place for our residents. It connects people to our downtown, our restaurants, our shops and our entertainment venues.
Christine Marquardt, the hotel’s director of sales, said renovations have been ongoing for over a year.
“We closed down in the early part of 2024, late part of 2023, so we’re just really excited that we’re finally done with the product and really excited to show that to the community,” Marquardt said.
Kleman says he’s been with the Chamber since 1990, so he’s seen “at least five, if not more, transformations of this property” — it’s been a Radisson, a Hilton and, most recently, a Best Western. “But I think this transformation is the best one yet,” said Kleman.
