MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WRN) — Another prominent Wisconsin Democrat joins the race for governor.
Madison State Senator Kelda Roys announced her candidacy via a video on social media on Monday morning.
With everything on the line, Wisconsin needs a governor who’s been training for this moment her whole career and knows how to deliver. We can’t afford to wait. pic.twitter.com/CVzVBRJeqW

Roys was first elected to the state assembly in 2009 and has served in the state senate since 2021. She was among a crowded field in the 2018 Democratic gubernatorial primary won by current governor Tony Evers.
Roys joins Lieutenant Governor Sara Rodriguez and Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley as high-profile Democrats running to replace Evers, who announced in July he wouldn’t run for re-election.
Two Republicans are running as well and more candidates from both parties are expected.
