Desmond Waukau, Jr. (Brown Co. Jail)
(WTAQ-WLUK) — A former Keshena man received his sentence after he was convicted of causing a crash during a police pursuit that killed his passenger.
Desmond L. Waukau, Jr., 22, was sentenced to 3.5 years in prison following a conviction for involuntary manslaughter.
According to court documents, on Sept. 20, 2024, while Waukau Jr. was at a location on the Menominee Indian Reservation, he attempted to elude a marked police vehicle. Waukau allegedly drove away from police at a high rate of speed while under the influence of alcohol and a controlled substance. During the pursuit, Waukau Jr. crashed the vehicle. The passenger in his vehicle died.
