GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Juan Pedroza was sentenced Tuesday to 30 months in prison for fleeing an undercover drug officer, then crashing into the squad car.
Pedroza, 45, pleaded no contest to three counts, including first-degree recklessly endangering safety, possession of methamphetamine and bail jumping for the Jan. 11, 2022, incident. Multiple other counts were dismissed.
He was also placed on extended supervision for five years, and was ordered to write an apology letter to the officer by Judge Samantha Wagner. Pedroza has more than two years of credit for time already served.
Before the sentence was issued, Pedroza said since the incident, he has turned his life around. He is sober, got married, has a job and asked not to return to prison. He also apologized for his actions.
According to the criminal complaint, an officer attempted to stop the vehicle Pedroza was driving. Pedroza sped away, then slowed down and allegedly crashed into a police vehicle in Ashwaubenon.
The officer was taken to the hospital after reporting pain in his legs, ankles, shoulders, neck and back.
