SUAMICO, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — More than 200 people will be out of work when a cheese manufacturer closes a plant in the Green Bay area.
According to a notice filed with the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development, Saputo Cheese USA plans to close its Suamico plant in December.
The notice says 240 workers will be affected.
The company says, in 2023, it announced plans to close by the end of last year. The latest notice filed this week indicates the closure will happen by the end of this year.
“(A)ll affected employees are aware of the terms of their employment ending and are being compensated above and beyond their standard and/or hourly pay rates,” the notice says.
