GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A Green Bay Packers mural needs fans to help bring it back to life for the new season.
The Packers Fence Community Paint-by-Numbers Mural is back for its third year on Lombardi Avenue near the Ridge Road Intersection and kitty-corner to Hinterland.
Local artist Zane Statz, who has been painting Packers murals since 2014, will once again outline a 70-foot by 6-foot mural on Lombardi Avenue for the community to bring to life.
Fans of all ages are invited to help paint beginning at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 6, continuing until the mural is complete. The paint-by-numbers design offers easy spots for beginners and more detailed sections for those looking for a challenge.
No sign-up or supplies are required, just show up and grab a brush.
Each year, the mural has grown in size and participation. In 2023, over 200 people painted the fence in just two hours. Last year, nearly 500 fans took part, completing the mural in around eight hours.
This year’s design is the most ambitious yet, honoring the Lambeau Leap while featuring legendary Packers and a few local icons. For fans looking for extra fun, the design also includes a special spot where they can pose alongside the players for the perfect photo.
The project is sponsored by Kwik Trip, whose familiar red-capped employee is incorporated into the mural’s design. Due to residential zoning restrictions, the Kwik Trip logo cannot appear on the fence, but fans will still see the resemblance.
